John Peltekis, Greek Partisan: Assistance from British Embassy Athens in Court Case

20 Feb 1948

A file of correspondence and memoranda concerning the assistance given to John Peltekis, a former member of the Greek war-time resistance, by the British Embassy in Athens during his involvement in a court case. The documents discuss the charges against Peltekis – that during the war he took for himself money intended to be distributed to his resistance organisation – and describe his reputation for war-time profiteering, and conclude that he is innocent of the accusation. A statement to the judge confirming this is included as one of the documents.
