A file of directives and memoranda discussing post-war planning for special operations, and the future of the Special Operations Executive (SOE). The documents include several drafts and a final version of a directive laying out the information that had to be prepared in readiness for short-term operations planning, to allow special operations to be launched as speedily as possible. This includes background political and economic intelligence about the country in which the operation was to take place, as well as up-to-date intelligence about the armed forces and security services, and potential covert methods of entry and exit. The file also includes memoranda discussing the future of SOE after the end of the war, and the need for the cooperation of the various branches of British intelligence when planning special operations.
