A file of correspondence discussing the construction of an improved telegraph service between Britain, Iceland and the Faroe Islands. The letters discuss the inadequacy of the existing arrangements, and the need for an improved service; the inadvisability of using radio communications instead, due to the possibility of interception by the enemy; and a political struggle in Britain over who would control the cable, the Post Office, the Cable and Wireless Company, or the Great Northern Company, which due to its Danish connections was accused by its competitors of being under enemy control.
