'C', Chief of the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS): Wireless Communications; Cairo

18 Dec 1939

A file of correspondence concerning the establishment of a wireless transmitter in the British embassy in Cairo. The letters discuss the need for a transmitter, noting that a similar arrangement had been extremely useful in the Warsaw embassy, but the final decision of the ambassador was not in favour, since he felt it would be difficult to keep such an apparatus secret. Three years later this decision was reversed, on the condition that proper security measure would be put in place.
