The documents include reports of a visit by Canaris to Madrid and Lisbon, and Spanish and Portuguese opposition to his arrival; an assessment of the character of Canaris, and possible utility as an anti-Nazi leader; peace feelers initiated on his behalf by German agents in Stockholm; and a report of his arrest along with other senior Nazis in the aftermath of the July bomb plot against Hitler in 1944.
