A file of correspondence and memoranda concerning the involvement of Sir Coleridge Kennard, a British diplomat, in an adultery scandal and a subsequent divorce case. While acting as British Minister to Persia, Kennard had an affair with a Mrs. Buckley, and was later cited as a co-respondent during her divorce creating a public scandal, whereupon Kennard distanced himself from Mrs. Buckley and married another woman. Amongst the documents in the file are letters between members of the Foreign Office describing the situation, letters from Mrs. Buckley complaining about her treatment by Kennard; legal correspondence and records of proceedings; memoranda giving advice to Kennard; discussions of public opinion; a letter appointing Kennard an attaché in Rome; and correspondence covering his absence without leave from that post.
