Documents in this file include a series of telegrams from Lord Rothermere to senior German figures including Hitler (intercepted by the Foreign Office), in which he expresses his admiration for Germany and hopes for peace; a report examining deciphered Italian messages to determine whether or not Germany was in talks with the U.S.S.R.; preparations for Anglo-Turkish talks; a report revealing that the Italians had deciphered the Turkish codes; a report analysing German internal propaganda, and drawing lessons for British future propaganda; a series of letters and reports covering communist refugees in Britain; and correspondence and memoranda reporting a recent increase in refugee numbers, and possible measures to limit numbers in future; and reports on the international situation and German intentions.
