A file of documents on Rudolf Hess' imprisonment in Britain in 1944. The documents include a number of personal letters exchanged between Hess and his family which discuss family life and recent casualties on the Eastern Front, and intelligence précis of these letters. Also contained in the file are requests from Hess to be allowed convalescence leave in Switzerland due to his worsening health, and reports on Hess' mental condition that note his recent memory loss and consider whether any mention of this condition in Hess' personal correspondence should be supressed to prevent its use in German propaganda.
