Correspondence between War Office and Camp 'Z', Translation of Protest Petition, Memorandum by Loxley, Conversations, Manuscript Notes and Other Correspondence

1942

A file of documents on Rudolf Hess' imprisonment in Britain during the second half of 1942. Documents in the file include plans to move Hess to new accommodation; a letter of complaint from Hess to the British Government about the noisiness of his new accommodation; and essays written by Hess on German grievances after the First World War, Nazi international policy, and the need for an Anglo-German rapprochement to counter the Bolshevik threat. The file also contains a number of medical and psychiatric reports commenting on Hess' fluctuating mental state, as well as a report on Hess' state of mind based on his personal correspondence since his arrival in May 1941.
