2. At SUDA BAY on night of 25th/26th. March 1941 when H.M.S. YORK and the Oiler "PERICLES" were hit. On this occasion the attack was carried out by very fast motor-boats carrying an explosive charge in the bow. 3. On Grand Harbour, MALTA, on 26.7.41., when 8 two-men torpedoes attempted to break through the defences. One of them blew up on reaching the breakwater and the remaining 7 were either sunk or blown up before reaching their objectives. MEDITERRANEAN: ENEMY SHIPPING ACTIVITIES. 3. The plan to run the Straits of Gibraltar with Dutch motor barges especially suited for coasting work between Tripoli and Benghazi is being proceeded with and the first barge is scheduled to attempt the passage of the Straits on or about 20th October.
