Summary of Inter-Service Intelligence Prepared up to 4.0 P.M. on 25th August, 1941

20 Feb 1941

OIL. It is reliably reported that the pipeline crossing the CERNAVODA Bridge (bombed on the 13th August) was not repaired by the 15th August. Oil is being sent from CONSTANZA to BULGARIAN ports and thence to Germany. Danube and rail routes are continuing to work at capacity, and are expected to carry 550,000 tons of oil to Germany in August. Assuming the CERNAVODA Bridge will be repaired, German buyers are enquiring for large quantities of marine fuel oil for delivery at CONSTANZA during September.
