Foreign Assistance to the Greek Communists. Report

1 Nov 1946

(c) Russian participation in these activities appears to have been limited, so far, to the provision of instructors at training establishments in Yugoslavia and Bulgaria, and, according to one report, to the despatch of arms and ammunition from Bulgaria into Greece. It is also possible that Russian equipment has been provided to the Yugoslavs for onward transmission to the Greek Communists. (d) It is not possible to give a reliable estimate of the number of Greek Communists who are undergoing training on foreign soil, or of those who have returned to Greece after such training.
