Exchange of Information with Turkey

ANNEX Copy of a letter No. R.21166/44/G dated 26th January. 1946 from the Foreign Office to the Secretary, Chiefs of Staff Committee At the meeting of the Chiefs of Staff Committee on the 12th November+ the Committee decided that there would be no objection to a discreet exchange of information with the Turks about Russian troop movements. The Committee recorded that a suitable arrangement already existed as they had been given to understand that this could be done through S.I.S. channels. At the same time, the Committee decided that "we should be discouraging about the possibility of military conversations with the Turks".
