Disposal of German Scientists & Russian Activities in Connection Therewith

1 Jan 1946

Transfer of German Scientists by Soviet Authorities Summary. 1. The enclosed paper+ contains a lengthy unverified and unedited report on the interrogation of three German scientists by Captain Ellison and Commander Studdart, members of the British Naval Gunnery Mission on the Continent. 2. According to the three scientists (who are all electrical experts), they were approached by the Russians when the latter entered Berlin. Appreciating that if they refused to work for the Russians they would at least be deprived of their liberty, they did not refuse, but according to their statement they have seized the first opportunity to contact the Western Powers and warn them of what is afoot.
