Use of Chemical Warfare Note by the Secretary

A volume of reports commissioned for the Joint Intelligence Sub-Committee (JIC). The JIC was formed of representatives from the intelligence services, the armed services, and the Foreign Office. Its purpose was to assess military, security, and foreign policy requirements and coordinate Britain's intelligence organisations accordingly. A vast range of international and domestic issues are investigated and analysed in the JIC's reports. Subjects covered in this file include the post-war political situation in Indonesia and French Indochina; the disarmament and denazification of occupied Germany; the internment of members of the Nazi Party; the release of information on operations in the Second World War; relations between the Soviet Union and the West; the Soviet threat to Turkey; defence plans for the Middle East in collaboration with the Arab states; post-war British intelligence organisation; the threat of civil war in China; and the strategic significance of atomic weaponry.
