(a) They are relatively young and feel that unless they can continue in the Service to the end of their career, or have some substantial financial compensation for the years which they lose in the Service they would be unwise to postpone longer than essential the day when they take up a civil career. (b) They are confident of their own efficiency and feel reasonably assured of success in civilian life if they leave the Service at an early date. (c) Many of them are married and have already suffered a number of years separation.
