Threat from Saboteurs & Hostile Persons to the Safety of R.A.F. Equipment & Personnel in the M.E. Note by the Secretary (J.I.C.(45)24(M.E.))

1 Jul 1945

6. (i) Palestine (ii) Egypt (iii) Iraq (iv) Levant States. While there are in each of these countries resolute nationalist political parties capable of conducting sabotage operations, there is no evidence except in Palestine that any of these organisations have received training in this particular form of warfare, which apart from technical qualifications, entails a high standard of discipline. (c) (i) A serious sabotage threat, therefore, exists in the near future in Palestine only, where both Left Wing (Hagana and Palmach) and Right Wing (Stern Group and IZL) para-military organisations have received intensive training to this end.
