ANNEX Draft Telegram to Field Marshal Montgomery and to Field Marshal Alexander. There have been instances recently of unauthorised release to the Press of captured German documents. Such releases may conflict with the policy of H.M.G. or compromise most secret intelligence sources. We therefore invite you to issue instructions that no captured German service, political or economic documents should be used for publication or shown to unofficial historians without reference to the Directorate of Intelligence of the Service Ministry concerned, or in the case of political and economic documents to the Foreign Office (through the Political Division of the Control Commission).
