Siam - Probable Japan Reaction to Developments in, and Allied Actions Affecting Siam. Note by the Secretary (Report by D. of I. SEAC.)

1 Jul 1945

Japanese themselves fear that the Kovit Government may not be able to maintain itself in power and may be replaced by one even less willing to collaborate. They might take action to forestall any change in government. Anti-Japanese feeling has resulted in incidents of minor sabotage and also a good deal of pilfering of Japanese stores has occurred; in this connection the Japanese have shown that they do not consider they have had the co-operation of the Siamese police in apprehending the culprits.
