ANNEX THE SECRETARY, J.I.C. 45/423 JAVA J.P. (45) 116 (0) (T. of R.) The Future Planning Section are preparing for the Directors of Plans a Staff study on operations against Java in 1946. They are assuming that Malaya, including Singapore, will have already been taken by us. 2. The Future Planning Section were proposing to base their staff study on the assumption that the Japanese opposition in Java will be of the following order:Navy Negligible a few coastal and river craft. Army A total of 4 independent brigades, strength about 52,000, including base and L.
