TOP SECRET 45/396 SECRETARY, J.I.C.A SUMATRA J.P. (45) 113(0) (T. of R.) The Future Planning Section are preparing for the Directors of Plans a staff study of operations against Sumatra in 1946. They are working on the assumption that Malaya, including Singapore, will already have been taken by us. 2. The Future Planning Section were proposing to base their staff study on the assumption that Japanese opposition in Sumatra will be of the following order:Navy Negligible a few coastal and river craft.
