Security Problems Facing the Allies in Germany Note by Sec., Covering Report by J.I.C., SHAEF.

1 Mar 1945

7. The most serious threat to our security in the immediate future would appear to be the Werewolf organisation. Information about the Werewolves is at present scanty, but this much is clear. It was founded towards the end of last year, as an organisation to resist the occupying powers by guerilla methods. It is a single organisation, designed to operate on all fronts and is commanded by SS Obergruppenfuehrer PRUETZMANN. Werewolf is not thought to be part of the Reichsicherheitshauptamt. In the main it is an SS organisation whose chief is directly responsible to HIMMLER.
