1 Mar 1945

5 while existing stocks of combat equipment and munitions on the mainland are believed to be quite extensive our information on this subject is insufficient to make any sound estimate of how long such stocks might satisfy active defensive operations of the Japanese forces at present in Manchuria and China. It is possible that present capacity of mainland r senals and munition plants, plus stocks on hand, could satisfy defensive requirements for a long period in small arms, mortars, light machine guns, hand grenades and small caliber ammunition.
