(h) The deputation considered that the only way of averting chaos was for the Wehrmacht to seize executive power from the present German Government and then allow the Allied armies to march through. 5. I formed the conclusion that the German deputation would like to be cooperative but were not willing to jeopardise the lives of their families by agreeing to the use of their names for broadcast or pamphlet propaganda. They were, on the other hand, prepared to study the position and make other suggestions, and I, therefore, closed the discussion by suggesting that they should make their proposals to Major ABERFELDY who would forward them on.
