Estimate of Cultivated Areas of Isolated Japanese Garrisons. Note by Sec.

1 Mar 1945

ANNEX C.C.W.3/1 SECRETARY; JOINT INTELLIGENCE SUB-COMMITTEE The I.S.C.C.W. is engaged in preparations for a possible attack with crop destroying agents against the cultivated areas developed by isolated Japanese garrisons in the Pacific. We have a rough idea of the quantities per acre of the various agents which would be required to achieve devastation, but in order to estimate the magnitude of the production problem, we also need to have some information of the area to be attacked. We should be grateful for any information you can supply in this connection, and if you have no information regarding the acreage of the cultivated areas, estimates of the size of the garrisons would be helpful.
