4. The lack of co-ordination which has often been noticed among Japanese broadcasters and publicists appears to continue. A Japanese newspaper in Shanghai, the Tairiku Shimpo, recently declared roundly that the seriousness of the present military situation defies imagination." A Radio Tokyo commentator however was by no means of such pessimistic persuasion, and he demonstrated the satisfactory state of affairs by the following piece of cast iron logic: "It is common knowledge" he declared, "that the Americans are to be annihilated.
