Scale of Attack by Flying Bombs in the Mediterranean Theatre Report by J.I.C.

1 Jan 1945

AIR LAUNCHED FLYING BOMBS 5. The only G.A.F. units equipped for the launching of flying bombs from aircraft are at present based in the Schleswig area of N.W. Germany and there is no sign of any intention to move them elsewhere. ENEMY INTENTIONS 6. The launching of flying bombs in Northern Italy would involve a considerable expenditure of manpower, transport and fuel. In view of Germany's critical shortage of all these resources on other more important fronts, we consider it unlikely on general as well as on the particular grounds already discussed that the Germans will launch a flying bomb offensive in Northern Italy.
