ANNEX TOP SECRET 45/79 SECRETARY, J.I.C. The Future Planning Section are re-examining their plan for the establishment of a base on the west coast of North Borneo*in April/May, 1945. 2. They would be grateful if you could revise your estimate+ of the likely enemy opposition and reactions. 3. The assumptions on which the previous study by the Future Planning Section was based have now been overtaken by events. For this re-examination the only assumption is that the Pacific and South East Asia Command operations continue as at present planned.
