Allocation of Personnel with Knowledge of Far Eastern Languages - Report by Sir Theodore Adams Note by Secretary

1 Jan 1945

Appendix A Appendix B 4. Two Committees had just been set up :(a) The WORKING Committee: (b) The ALLOCATION Committee; Details of the members of these Committees and of their functions are given in Appendix A. 5. The ALLOCATION Committee had held a meeting and had fixed priorities for the months of December-January. These are very reasonable and an apparent discrepancy between the views of the S.A.C. in London and those of the ALLOCATION Committee, viz. the low priority of C.A.S.(B) was due to the fact that the ceiling for C.A.S.(B) had not yet been raised, while delay in setting up the CONTACT REGISTER (due to shortage of staff) made immediate action difficult.
