Effects or Allied Attacks on the Enemy Oil Situation in Europe Report by the J.I.C.

1 Oct 1944

If, within the next few weeks, the few remaining active synthetic plants are successfully attacked, it is likely that production in January will in fact fall to a figure approaching that for last September. SUMMARY. 7. The following is a summary of the present enemy oil position:(i) Total oil production in December was 410,000 tons, of which 145,000 tone was petrol. This compares with the total production in November of 430,000 tons, of which 170,000 tone was petrol. (ii) whereas at the end of October repairs appeared to be outstripping production the converse is now the case despite the handicap to the Allies of winter weather; and the number of plants in production at any one time is declining.
