as quickly as possible, even though this will mean abandoning Eastern Slovakia, but will then seek to establish a front covering the approaches to the Bratislava Gap and Vienna, flanked by the High Tatra and Lake Balaton. It is reasonable to expect that this may be the enemy's general situation by December of this year. It is clear, in view of the serious threat to Austria which will arise if the present Russian offensive is exploited on the Budapest Vienna axis, that the enemy will have to employ on the High Tatra Balaton front at least the whole of Army Group South, now estimated at some nineteen divisions.
