ANNEX A THE EFFECTS OF THE ALLIED BOMBING OFFENSIVE IN SUPPORT OF MILITARY OPERATIONS 1. Since our last report+ the Strategic Bomber Forces have been required to play only a small part in direct support of military operations. Western Front 2. They successfully breached the seawall of Walcheren. Though none of the fixed batteries were flooded out, 10 field batteries were forced to withdraw to the Beveland Peninsula. A series of heavy attacks on gun emplacements materially reduced the Germans' ability to resist the Allied landing.
