TOP SECRET ANNEX The Joint Planning Staff have asked for the following:2. ASSUMPTIONS (a) Germany defeated October 1944. (b) Russia remains neutral. (c) The American advance in the Pacific proceeds according to plan, i.e. Mindanao November, 1944, Formosa or Luzon in Spring 1945. or (d) The Americans' advance is delayed, i.e. Mindanao November, 1944, Formosa or Luzon November 1945. 3. What will be the Japanese opposition and reaction to each of the following series of operations :(a) The re-capture of the whole of Burma first starting in the winter 1944/45.
