British Forces for Greece Note by Secretary

1 Jun 1944

TOP SECRET 44/414 SECRETARY, J.I.C. BRITISH FORCES FOR GREECE In considering the J.P. Paper on "British Forces for Greece"* at their meeting today, the Directors of Plans found themselves unable to accept the statement in paragraph 13 of the paper that "with Athens and Salonika under control, there is little chance of serious subversive movement arising elsewhere". 2. They would be grateful if the Joint Intelligence Sub-Committee would elaborate the information already provided for the Strategical Planning Section in "German Withdrawal from Greece"+ by covering the problem contained in that particular sentence.
