Suitability of the Island of Vis as a Head-Quarters Report by J.I.C. (Limited Circulation)

1 Jun 1944

Conclusion 17. We think that politically Vis would be suitable as a Headquarters for Tito, if he cannot return to the mainland. Provided the garrison available for the defence of the island remains at its present strength operations for the capture of the island are highly unlikely. Seaborne or airborne raids though also unlikely are possibilities to be guarded against. (Signed) V.CAVENDISH-BENTINCK. J.A. SINCLAIR F.F INGLIS I.M.R. CAMPBELL (for D.N.I.)
