Japanese Strategy in China Note by the Secretary

THIS DOCUMENT IS THE PROPERTY OF HIS BRITANNIC MAJESTY'S GOVERNMENT SECRET COPY NO. 19 Ref. J.I.C. (44) 220 28TH MAY 1944. WAR CABINET JOINT INTELLIGENCE SUB-COMMITTEE JAPANESE STRATEGY IN CHINA. Note by the Secretary. It has been suggested that before the Prime Minister of Australia leaves this country he should be provided with an appreciation of any further military developments that may arise as the result of recent Japanese operations in China. Since an appreciation on these lines will be forthcoming as a result of the Terms of Reference issued under the above number on 26th May, it is suggested that this appreciation be completed in time for submission to the Chiefs of Staff by Friday 2nd June and thus enable the Prime Minister of Australia to be given the information he requires.
