The present lull on the Russian front has temporarily halted the decline in the Roumanian will to resist and has helped the Germans to consolidate their grip on Hungary. It has also relieved the Germans of any need to transfer further divisions from the West to the Eastern Front, and has enabled them to rest and re-form some of their forces on that front though it has equally provided the Russians with a valuable period for rest, consolidation and the repair of communications.
