Possibilities of a German Collapse in the Balkans. Report by J.I.C. Algiers (J.I.C.(AF)14/44.) Note by Sec.

1 Apr 1944

6. ALLIED BOMBING Considerable damage has already been done to Roumanian rail communications. If this success can be maintained it may, together with further mining of the Danube, have a decisive effect in curtailing German resistance. CONCLUSIONS 7. Our fresh information thus gives us on the one hand: (a) A higher probability of Roumanian military collapse with the consequent loss to Germany of Roumanian divisions and the necessity for complete German control. (b) Successful Allied air attacks against Balkan communications.
