German air strength on the Eastern Front consists of some 1560 operational aircraft, of which 475 are bombers and 380 are fighters. Although it is already clearly inadequate it will probably be allowed to deteriorate further in favour of the West. 6. The Balkans (including Hungary). The Soviet advance has now entered Rumania and reached the frontier of Hungary. By political and military action Germany has established and must maintain effective control of at least the essential industries and communications of those countries, whatever the degree of internal resistance.
