ANNEX. Reply to F.P.S.44/52 dated 19th March, 1944.+ SIMALUR We have been asked the following questions concerning plans for the capture of SIMALUR and NIAS Islands in November 1944:(a) The Japanese strength on the islands in November 1944. (b) Their re-action against the islands after capture. (c) The effect of these operations on Japanese dispositions and strengths in N. Sumatra in March 1945. (d) Their re-actions in any other areas. 2. We have made the following assumption regarding the progress of the drive across the Pacific:By November 1944 the Allies will have occupied the Marianas and Palau and will have landed on Mindanao.
