39, Anti-gas training has been maintained at a high level in the past year. In view of the shortage of rubber, greater efforts have been made to provide gas-proof shelters for civilians Japan 40. The Japanese have prepared stocks of gas and weapons for chemical warfare and possess factories believed to be capable of a considerable output. 41. Troops are provided with efficient respirators and receive anti-gas training. Civilian defence measures have been limited but are being constantly increased and in another year should become strong.
