Plan "Drake" Note by Sec.

1 Feb 1944

11. Air defence of the Kweilin area will become more difficult if this plan is implemented, since:(a) Concentration of the B-29s on these airfields just prior to, and on completion of, each mission will present a lucrative target to the enemy air forces. (b) The Japanese will be able to predict the time of arrival of the B-29s at the forward fields some 4-6 hours beforehand through passage of the formations over Burma en route and over other Japanese-occupied areas during conduct of the mission.
