Objective (b) From the Mosyr Area Through the Pripet Marshes towards Brest Litovsk, further to interrupt German communications between the Northern and Southern Sectors. (c) From the Nevel/ To advance towards the line Leningrad front. Pskov Dvinsk in order to threaten the communications with the Leningrad front and either cut off German forces in the North or force their withdrawal towards the Baltic States. 9. The advances which the Russians have already made, notably in the Southern Sector, have been so rapid that the supply and maintenance of their forces in these new offensives is likely to become increasingly difficult, although, hitherto, the Russians have shown remarkable ability in maintaining their advancing forces under the most difficult conditions.
