Japanese Propaganda. Note by Secretary

1 Nov 1943

MOST SECRET MESSAGE 221201Z November IN From: C. in C. E.F. Date: 22.11.43 Recd: 2108 NAVAL CYPHER AA BY W/T Addressed Admiralty Personal for D. of N.I. from Admiral Somerville. Is there anything to account for the intensive propaganda at present being conducted by Japanese broadcasting. Claims of sinking of Allied warships in South West Pacific are staggering and have been repeated for over 3 weeks. Admiral Royle informs me that there is no foundation whatever for these spurious claims as there must be some underlying motive behind all this propaganda.
