Policy Towards Turkey. Note by Secretary

1 Nov 1943

ANNEX Land Forces 1. Views expressed in Paras. 5 and 7 of J.I.C.(43) 450 as to availability of German land forces for operations against Turkey still hold good. 2. One Turkish argument for increased assistance is alleged existence of German central reserve available for offensive operations (See M.A./4340 from M.A. Angora to C.-in-C. Middle East, 15th November). Material with which to refute this argument is given in War Office Telegram 87092 of 9th November to H.A. Angora for D.M.I. Middle East.
