Cross Channel Operations - Contact with Allied Authorities. Report by J.I.C.

1 Aug 1943

3. Paragraph 9 The last sentence reads "the Commander of the French Contingent will only be given information on the same basis as U.S. and British Commanders of equivalent formations." We consider that it would be better if this sentence were reworded as follows:"The Commander of the French Contingent will only be given information at the latest moment practicable." If, as is understood to be probable, the French Contingent is in fact not employed in the preliminary stages of the operation, its commander should not receive any vital information until it is too late for there to be any serious risk to security.
