German submarines operating in the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal may be effected by the Spring of 1944. The number at sea at any time is unlikely to exceed five. (c) Air Forces It is expected that the Japanese will have in the Burma-Siam-French Indo-China-Malaya-Sumatra zone in mid-February 1944 about 250 aircraft, disposed roughly as follows:Burma and Siam 150 French Indo-China 30 malaya-Sumatra 70 5. AVAILABILITY OF LAND RESERVES FOR SUMATRA AND MALAYA The present garrisons of Siam, Indo-China and Burma cannot be reduced for the reinforcement of Sumatra and Malaya, nor can the garrison of Malaya at present be reduced to aid Sumatra.
