ANNEX 1. The J.P.S. has been instructed (J.P.(43)296(s) T.of R.) to prepare a strategical appreciation with positive conclusions on the subject of operations against Norway. 2. The assumptions will be:(i) Allied forces are established in Central Italy, but are held by the Germans south of the Lombardy Plain. (ii) The Russians make some further progress but achieve no decisive success. (iii) OVERLORD is cancelled for one or more of the reasons given in para. 4 of J.P.(43) 296(S) T. of R. but a deception plan is put into force to simulate an invasion of France.
