German Intentions in Sardinia and Corsica. Report by J.I.C.

1 Jul 1943

6. Naval craft, stores and personnel have been withdrawn from Cagliari and Porto Vesme to the North of Sardinia and a considerable quantity of G.A.F. equipment and personnel have been evacuated either to Corsica or to the mainland. Advanced parties of such G.A.F. units as remain in Sardinia have also arrived either in Corsica or in the mainland and those airfields that have not been demolished are being organised on only a temporary basis. 7. We conclude that preparations for evacuation have reached an advanced stage.
