Procedure for Obtaining Intelligence for a Particular Operation. Note by Secretary

1 May 1943

(b) To ensure that questions conform to the actual intentions of the Force Commander(s), Ministry "I" Branches will add no questions of their own to those they receive through I.S.(0), except those which may be reasonably expected to arise from the questions which have already been framed by the Force Commander(s). (c) Should Ministry "I" Branches consider that any other questions should be added they will refer them back to I.S.(0), so that the latter can consult the Force Commander(s). (d) To enable (b) to be implemented, the existing I.S.(0), Charter, whereby all "I" requirements of Force Commander(s) shall be passed through I.S.(0) and not direct to Ministries, is to be rigidly observed.
